May 28th - Camp Sunday!  Special Offering for Bible Camp support June 4 - Pentecost Service, Blessing of Graduates  (please inform Pastor Beth of anyone graduating from any level of schooling this year so we can celebrate them) June 11 - Outdoor Worship and Blessing of Pets with Pot-luck meal  June 18 - (Rain date for June 11) This book Designed to Pray does prayer with creativity. An 8-week long workbook with daily prayer activities. All ages invited to participate. For pre-reading and writing kids, their adults will need to make adaptations for at home. · Gather for Community & Prayer · Monday Nights 7-8pm at Salem’s Mahtowa Hall · May 29 - July 24 · You do not need to attend all or any prayer gatherings to participate with the book. You do not need to have the book to participate in prayer together. My Neighbor Is Muslim: A Study written by Lutheran Social Services - MN  May 31 - July 12 • 6-7pm Wednesday Evenings at Salem’s Mahtowa Hall (2702 1st St - Mahtowa) Led by Reverend Beth Pottratz, Pastor at Salem in Mahtowa “My Neighbor is Muslim” was written for Christian Churches to better understand our Muslim neighbors so that we can better live out our call as Christians to love and serve all people in the name of Jesus.  Reflections from Muslim Scholars and Lutheran Scholars. The Holy Hootenanners are playing!  Come watch them perform in Sandstone!!  May 27 - 6:30-8:30 Old School Arts Center, Sandstone Confirmation Project Presentations: The confirmation class has been working on faith projects for the last couple months.  The 7th graders' faith art projects will be displayed in the church basement for the month of May.  The 8th graders' faith statements will be shared at their confirmation. Lawn Mowing Schedule 2017: We ask that you have the church and parsonage lawns mowed by the Sunday that precedes your name. Sept. 3-- -- -- -- -- -- -- Laramie Sept. 10-- -- -- -- -- -- Rodney Sept. 17-- -- -- -- -- -- Caleb Sept. 24-- -- -- -- -- -- Chuck Oct. 1-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -Dave Building Project: Buy a Shingle - $100 per shingle square.  Fill in squares on the painting as our funds are donated.  Total needed $2100.  This year we are shingling the north roof of the church (the south side was done last year) Financial Progress Report: 2017 Salem General Budget: $101,247 Monthly Average Needed to meet our budget: $8437 Monthly Average Income - January to April: $8592 May 7: $1502 May 14: $810 Running May Total: $2312 God gives us the goal to give 10% of what we earn for the worship of our God.  This can be a great challenge when we balance our income with all the demands on our money.  If you’re not tithing 10% try to challenge yourself to give a little more than you did before. Paying bills isn't sexy, but the general budget means that as a church we can pay our bills and fund our ministry to remain a places where people can come to experience God's grace and love in worship and in community. Pastoral Care and Visits: Reminder that Pastor Beth is available for pastoral care and visits: if you are sick, in the hospital, in jail, or otherwise just need a listening ear.  If you wish to talk with her or have her visit you, let Pr. Beth know.  If you don’t tell her, she won’t know!  Don’t assume that Pr Beth will just find out or guess that you want to visit.  You can contact her in case of emergency by calling.  Otherwise,  you can contact her via text message, phone call, or email and she will get back to you as soon as possible.
