Salem Lutheran Church · Weekly Announcements 4/9/17 View this email in your browser Salem Lutheran Church, Mahtowa · Home of the Holy Hootenanners  Mission: Energetic Christian community of all ages called to love, accept, and grow through Discipleship  Our vision at Salem Lutheran is to be a stable foundation and vibrant hub for disciples new and old.  Announcements Palm Sunday Worship 9:30am 4/9 Maundy Thursday Worship 7pm 4/13 Good Friday Worship 7pm 4/14 Easter Sunday Worship 9:30am 4/16 with Easter Egg hunt for kids after worship NO SUNDAY SCHOOL Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday Romans Bible Study:  Beginning March 19 from 6:30-7:30pm we will have a Bible Study on the book of Romans.  The Bible study will run from mid-March to mid-May.  Come even if every week doesn’t work for you! Aimed at adults, anyone and everyone welcome. No Bible Study Easter Sunday Logo and Sign Design Team!  Council is looking for about 5 people to work on a team together to create a logo for Salem that represents who we are and create a sign for the Hall for the name to be on the front of the building!  If you're interested or would like to recommend someone for this team, talk with Caleb Anderson or Pastor Beth! Free Easter Devotional for you and/or your family! A simple devotional that is easy to follow, will only take your family a few minutes, and includes a video and discussion questions.  Try this out for the 7 days between Palm Sunday (4/9) and Easter Sunday (4/16)! Worship Hymn Planning Committee!  Talk to Pr. Beth or Jean Hendrickson if you're interested in being part of a group that helps pick out the hymns for Sunday morning!   Youth Group schedule: April 12 - Holy Week, No Wednesday class or worship. (Holy Week) April 15 – Egging Fundraiser meet at Salem (details to come) April 16 – Easter Breakfast at Elim, Blackhoof (details to come- in the past 6:30 am) April 16 – Easter Service 9:30 at Salem (sit in balcony) Act Local Summer Youth Mission Trip: A local service opportunity for youth currently in grades 8-11!  Check it out!  Great week of fun and serving others in the name of God! Building Project: $50 a Flush - Help fund the ADA (handicap accessible) bathroom for the Hall. You've Been Egged Youth Fundraiser!  Click here for your order form and more info. Building Project: Buy a Shingle - $100 per shingle square.  Fill in squares on the painting as our funds are donated.  Total needed $2100.  This year we are shingling the north roof of the church (the south side was done last year) Financial Progress Report: 2017 Salem General Budget: $101,247 Monthly Average Needed to meet our budget: $8437 Month of January: $7779 Final Total Feb: $7649 Est. Total March: $7415 April 2: $1763 April 9: $1425 Running April Total: $3188 God gives us the goal to give 10% of what we earn for the worship of our God.  This can be a great challenge when we balance our income with all the demands on our money.  If you’re not tithing 10% try to challenge yourself to give a little more than you did before. Paying bills isn't sexy, but the general budget means that as a church we can pay our bills and fund our ministry to remain a places where people can come to experience God's grace and love in worship and in community. Pastoral Care and Visits: Reminder that Pastor Beth is available for pastoral care and visits: if you are sick, in the hospital, in jail, or otherwise just need a listening ear.  If you wish to talk with her or have her visit you, let Pr. Beth know.  If you don’t tell her, she won’t know!  Don’t assume that Pr Beth will just find out or guess that you want to visit.  You can contact her in case of emergency by calling.  Otherwise,  you can contact her via text message, phone call, or email and she will get back to you as soon as possible.
