Worship Participation Worship is the core of our communal life together as Christians. It is a time when we gather together as a community of believers to experience God through scripture, song, interpretation of scripture, prayer, and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Youth are invited to participate in worship in the same ways that adults participate. Youth are invited to lead during worship by serving communion, helping with little kids in worship, music leadership, reading scripture, and lighting candles (acolyte). Bringing your youth to worship whether they would choose it or not teaches our youth that faith and worship are a priority in life, helps strengthen their faith, and teaches them that church is a place where they belong.
Confirmation Classes: Affirmation of Baptism
What is confirmation? Confirmation is an affirmation of your Baptism. In baptism, God incorporates us into the Body of Christ and is one of the “means of grace” God’s spirit uses to create saving faith in people. In preparing for the rite of confirmation, we reflect on our identities as Christians: our mission, discipleship and vocation. The rite of Confirmation, or Affirmation of Baptism, marks the moment when the faith given in Baptism finds new expression, and the spiritual gifts are stirred up to meet new challenges. In the rite of Confirmation, the person is declaring faith as his or her own.
