Last year was a year full of activities. We offered a ski weekend trip, raised over $3,000 for community projects, installed basketball hoops at the park in Mahtowa, offered "you've been egged" fundraiser, bowling and pizza outing, offered movies in the park series, did several community service days and multiple lock-ins, installed a prayer labyrinth, offered a 5 week financial literacy series for teens, offered a leadership team retreat, and performed a community play.
We would like to thank everyone who attended "The Quiltmaker's Gift" performances. A free will donation was collected at the performances with all proceeds going to the mission trip. This fundraiser raised slightly over $650.
Our 2016 plans are looking to be a busy full year. A huge project for our youth group is to go on a mission's trip in the summer of 2016. You will be getting updates monthly as we work towards our goal. They are planning on offering quarterly lock-ins, annual winter ski trip, egging fundraiser, post basketball game movie night, bowling and pizza outing, and community service projects. A late spring/early summer project will be to add a sand volleyball court to the area behind Salem's Mahtowa Hall (fundraiser will begin in January). The group is also planning on hosting the movies in the park series again next summer. they will be hosting ongoing weekly small group discussions with topics including: financial literacy, PSEO, dating and relationships, reducing stress and being happy.
