Youth Group Notes………April/May 2016
We continue our planning for our upcoming mission trip to Nashville from July 22-30.
We are happy to report that our goal to fundraise $9,100 is getting closer. We are down
to about $2,400 to raise in the remaining 3 months. We would like to thank everyone
who supported the youth group in our recent Easter Fundraisers. We “Egged” over 30
homes and served several people an Easter Breakfast at Elim. Between the two events
we raised around $1000.
We held our pre-mission trip team bonding lock-in on April 16 – 17. This helped the
people going on the mission trip to deepen their bonds and connect with the purpose of
our mission trip. This was a very important weekend for our youth and I am excited to
report all went well. Please continue to pray for our youth in the faith journeys.
Our May fundraisers will include “Tag-a- bag” (see flyer for more details), spring yard
cleanup, and a garage sale. We will be taking donations for the garage sale throughout
April and May. If you have any items you would like to take to donate for our garage
sale, please let us know. We can make arrangements to pick items up and/or store
them until the sale. All proceeds will go into the Youth Account. We are able to take
individual general donations towards our mission trip at anytime if you would like to
support the youth. If people ask, checks can be written out to Salem Lutheran Youth.
The youth summer project to add a sand volleyball court to the area behind the old
school is temporary on hold until we meet the fundraising goal for the mission trip. The
group is also planning on hosting the movies in the park series again this coming
summer starting on June 17th. They will be hosting ongoing weekly small group
discussions with topics including: dating and relationships, reducing stress, and being
happy. Also, make sure to look for our float at the Spring Fever Days Parade.
